• The rules and procedures are simple.
• You don't need an attorney.
• The costs are low. Generally in the range of $15 to $50.
• The court will usually hear your case within 30 days from the date you file the papers.
• The court hearing is quick. It will usually only last about 10 to 20 minutes maximum.
• One other major advantage is that after you file your claim the other party will know you are serious and in many, many situations the case is settled out of court. Corporations usually MUST hire an attorney and it gets very expensive for them. You don't need an Attorney.

Q. How soon can my case be heard?

Usually your case will be heard within 30 days. This means you should have your case and your evidence ready BEFORE you file. You don't want your case to come up and you not be ready for it.

Q. How fast can I get my money?

You can get your money very fast. Some states allow for an appeal in small claims court, usually 10 to 30 days. You don't want to ask for your money until after the time for the appeal is past. Then is the time to get your money.

Q. How much does it cost to take a case to small claims court?

Filing fees vary by state from as low as $15 to about a hundred or so, but normally expect to pay from $25 to $50. You may have some other fees and expenses putting your evidence together, etc. Compare this to the $5,000 to $50,000 attorneys want up front just to start working on a case and you can see the advantages of small claims court.
